Passing on in the lifetime.

Hey everyone,

I recently witnessed a sad accident involving the passing of a beautiful orange tabby. I was having lunch at my boyfriend's house at Upper East Coast when his mum exclaimed that a dog was attacking a cat. I immediately jumped up from my seat and ran to the window to see. Well, I'm sad to say that the "dog" was actually 2 big golden retrievers who were being owned by a chinese guy who was with his friend jogging along the park connector. The poor cat was a shy orange tabby who always sits at the fencing staring at people but always ran away when I approached. It was really shocking to see a domesticated dog attacking the cat.

I know that many of you would be asking me, "what was the owner of the dogs doing??" Well, when the dogs attacked, they were not on their leash. And i guess the owner was in a state of shock when it happened. He did try to make his retrievers drop the cat though although it was a bit too late cos the dog flung it around when it was in his mouth. The cat had puncture wounds and was not able to breathe. I couldn't do much but to pray. It passed on when I finished my prayers for it. The owner was trying to help but in the end he couldnt do much.

The scary thing was, the next week, we saw the same guy with the two dogs, with his arm in a cast! scary. wonder what happened to the guy, and if it was the dog's fault. :/ what do you think?

Malaysian Cats

Well, I just recently went tom Johor Bahru for a short day trip. It was a lot of fun and the best part of my trip was to spot the many cats that roam the streets there. Well, my boyfriend and I were at this roadside hawker centre where there were many many cats around. I had fun cause the stall owners there were so nice and caring to the cats. I guess the cats actually help them by keeping rats away right? People in Singapore should think that way sometimes. The only thing I was not happy about when I was there were that with the many adult cats around, there were also many kittens around too. They were playing with the people's feet and chasing each other.. It was all too cute. But, I was thinking of their future. I wished they weren't there somehow. The hardship they would have to go through next time...

Anyway, the stall owners do not understand the importance of sterilising. Well, I can't blame them. Some educated people can't even get it. Sterilising keeps the population down, and makes sure there aren't too many cats in an area. Unsterilised male cats have raging hormones and this causes them to find mates and new territories. This causes the literal cat-fights and "howlings and hissings" when they fight. As compared to sterilised male cats,  those who are sterilised will not run from their territory to find mates, keeping other cats away from the area and minimizing the chances of more kittens.  In addition, female cats should also be sterilised to ensure that they will not be able to give birth to more kittens.

So, people, I will post soon!
Take care and remember to spare a thought about the stray cats and dogs you seen on the streets!

Back to School and Away from my Tinkie.

Wow! 2 weeks of holidays are up! Now, we are all back to school! So fast isn't it? It's crazy. Anyway, here's to a GREAT NEW YEAR in 2011! Happy New Year everyone!

So, I have been giving my kitties the best care and food. I realize I spoil my cat so much...that its scary. Tinkie is the most fussiest cat ever! His food choices seems to always get more expensive. Want to know a secret? Tinkie will only eat half of a wet food can. You must cut it into 4 parts for him, and he likes you to sit there and watch him eat. Only then will he eat it all clean. Yupp, I know. Fussy ain't he?

"Then, what do you do with the other half of the food Noreen?" - Well, I keep it in a Tupperware and put it in the fridge for the next meal! Ahhh... but that is not all to Tinkie's fussiness. When I give him the other half of the food, I must warm it up for him in the microwave for 15 seconds. (Too warm, or too cold, and he won't touch it.) After that, I have to cut it into 4s and place it in front of him. Surprising enough, but it works in getting him to eat.

My mum says I spoil him by heating up. He doesn't like my mum or dad to feed him the leftovers. Only I can feed him. They have also given up trying to make him eat it. Oh well! It feels good to be needed isn't it? My grandfather already finds my cat spoiled by eating canned food cause cats during his younger days only ate fish and fish only. I guess Tinkie is really spoiled, but its important for me to give Tinkie the best life he can get.

Well, I am still thinking of getting another cat to keep Tinkie company. The thing is, he doesn't like other cats and we can't keep dogs in our house. When I was in primary school, I brought home a kitten about 7-9 months old, and Tinkie freaked out. The poor kitten got so scared, he pooped on the floor. Really sad. My dad sent it to SPCA to take care of it. Tinkie is fine with smaller sized kittens though. like those 3-5 month old ones. I'm thinking of getting a munchkin kitten. They are AWESOMELY cute! They are born with really short legs and a long body so they are like the cat version of Daschund, the hotdog looking dog?

Yeah, this is a picture of a Daschund. Cute looking dogs but I heard they are really protective and fierce for a small dog. So, back to cats, a Munchkin would look similar to a Daschund but because they are cats, they look SO much CUTER. I know, I know... I'm biased to cats and that's why this blog is about CATS! Take a look at the Muchkin!

You have to agree with me that Munchkin cats are so much cuter than Daschunds! Short cute stubby legs! I so want one! They are hard to find in shelters... The only cattery here in Singapore for Munchkins are the Little Red Dot cattery. Check out their website --> http://littleredotcattery.webs.com

I've got to do my other projects now. See you all in class on Thursday!

Before I leave, here is a cat quote for you...

"A cat isn't fussy--just so long as you remember he likes his milk in the shallow, rose-patterned saucer and his fish on the blue plate. From which he will take it, and eat it off the floor."- Arthur Bridges
